Keith Hoffmann’s Statement on Robert Mueller
Robert Mueller was an extraordinary public servant who lived an extraordinary life. His service to American began in Vietnam, where he served, like my Dad, in the war. And following Mueller’s military service he committed himself to a career in law enforcement and public service that led him to the highest levels of our democracy.
Americans can and should disagree with one another about policy. But President Trump’s statement about the death of a veteran like Robert Mueller, saying he was “glad he’s dead” is nothing short of disgraceful. I stand with the vast majority of Americans who I believe respect the accomplishments of Director Mueller, and who condemn a vision of politics that leads us toward a dystopian, partisan warfare and the senseless desecration of the dead. Rachel and I extend our sincere condolences to Director Mueller’s family.
